Searching for a video editing school in Ethiopia usually comes down to three questions: what does it cost, how long will it take, and will I actually be able to edit when I finish? This guide answers all three and gives you a checklist you can use on any school, including ours.
What does a video editing course cost in Addis Ababa?
Prices vary by length and software. At Klick the Video Editing course (Adobe Premiere Pro) is ETB 5,000 for 1 month. The Video Editing + Motion Design track is ETB 15,000 for 3 months, and there are packages that add cinematography, graphic design or digital marketing. Flexible payment arrangements are available. Always ask a school for the full price in writing, including certificate and any exam or material fees.
How long does it take?
Learning the tools takes weeks, not years. A 1-month course with three 2-hour sessions a week is enough to cut a complete short film, ad or social video. Becoming fast and confident comes from practice afterwards, which is why a portfolio edit before graduation matters.
Checklist: how to choose the best video editing school
- Hands-on time. Are you editing on a real workstation in every class, or watching the teacher?
- Current software. Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve are the industry standards in Ethiopia.
- A finished piece. You should leave with at least one edit you can show an employer or client.
- Working teachers. People who edit for clients know what the job needs.
- Clear price and certificate. No surprise fees.
- Location and schedule. Klick runs at two branches, Mexico (Sengatera Building, 19th floor) and CMC Michael, with morning, afternoon and evening shifts.
Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?
Premiere Pro is the standard at most Ethiopian agencies and production houses, so it is the best first course. DaVinci Resolve is excellent for colour grading and is a strong second. Read our DaVinci Resolve vs Premiere Pro comparison or see the Video Editing + DaVinci Resolve package.
