What is the DaVinci Resolve course?
The DaVinci Resolve course is a 1-month professional course at Klick Film & Design School in Addis Ababa. It teaches the software end to end — the edit page, the colour page, Fairlight for sound and Fusion for titles and effects — with grading as the part you will be hired for.
Resolve is a full editing program, so this can be your first editing course. It is also the natural second course for someone who already cuts in Premiere Pro: the same footage, graded properly. Colourists are rarer than editors in Addis Ababa, and the work pays accordingly.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this course you will be able to edit professional-quality video content from scratch using the same tools and techniques used by editors at production companies and broadcast studios across Ethiopia and internationally.
Software & Tools
You will train on the same software used by professional editors at production houses, advertising agencies, and broadcast studios:
Course Structure — 1 Month
| Week | Module | Topics Covered |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Resolve Foundations | The interface and pages, project and media management, importing and organising, the cut and edit pages, first assembly |
| Week 2 | Editing & Sound | Trimming and pacing, transitions and speed, multicam, Fairlight for dialogue, music and sound effects, mixing levels |
| Week 3 | Colour Grading | The colour page and nodes, primaries and secondaries, scopes and exposure, shot matching, power windows and tracking, LUTs and building a look |
| Week 4 | Fusion, Delivery & Final Project | Titles and simple effects in Fusion, render settings and codecs, delivery for cinema, broadcast and social, final graded project |
