Video Editing + Motion Design
in Addis AbabaCut it, then animate it — two courses as one 3-month package

It is the Video Editing course and the Motion Design course taught as one continuous 3-month track at Klick Film & Design School in Addis Ababa. You learn to cut a sequence first, then to build the graphics that sit on top of it.

That order matters. Motion design without editing produces animations nobody can place in a timeline; editing without motion means sending every title card to somebody else. Television stations, agencies and production houses in Addis Ababa hire for the pair.

Month 1 — Video Editing. Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve: organising footage, assembly and pacing, colour correction and grading, audio cleanup and mixing, and export settings for delivery and social platforms.

Months 2–3 — Motion Design. Adobe After Effects: the principles of animation, keyframes and easing, kinetic typography, logo reveals and brand animation, lower thirds and transition packages, compositing and basic 3D.

Throughout. The graphics you animate go into the edits you cut. The final project is a complete motion package plus a showreel you can send to a client.

Classes meet 3 times per week for 2-hour sessions, with weekday and weekend options at both branches — Mexico (Sengatera Building, 19th Floor) and CMC Michael. A new intake starts every two weeks and seats are limited per class, so the shift you want is worth reserving early.

Graduates work as editors and motion designers for television, advertising agencies, production houses and social media teams, and freelance on brand films, music videos and commercials. Motion designers command some of the highest freelance rates in the Addis Ababa creative market, and editors who can animate are rarely idle.

Either course can be taken on its own: Video Editing runs 1 month and Motion Design runs 2 months, each with its own fee and certificate, and the two fees come to the same ETB 15,000 as the package. The package is for students who already know they want both and would rather run them back to back, on the same projects, as one 3-month programme.
