Who it is for
For people abroad who own a camera and shoot on auto, want to film family and community events properly, want to start a photography or video side business, or want to make their own YouTube and social content look cinematic.
Your teacher is a working professional at Klick Film & Design School in Addis Ababa, where over 2,000 students trained in a single year. Online, it is just you and them: they watch your screen, stop where you are stuck, and every session is spent on your work.
What you will learn
- Shutter, aperture, ISO, metering and focus — leaving auto mode
- Natural and artificial light, and how to shape it
- Composition and visual storytelling
- Portrait, product and event photography
- Video settings: frame rate, cinematic exposure, movement
- Planning a shoot: shot lists, lighting for video, directing people
- Editing your photos in Lightroom
Because the class is one-on-one, your teacher sets the order and the pace around what you want to make. The full in-person curriculum is on the Cinematography & Photography course page.
What you need
A camera with manual controls (a mirrorless or DSLR is best; ask us if you only have a phone), a computer for editing, and a stable connection. Send us your camera model before you pay.
How it works
- Register online or message us on WhatsApp — tell us the country you live in and the hours you are free.
- We match you with a teacher — and agree the session times in your time zone, in Amharic, English or Tigrinya.
- Someone in Ethiopia pays in ETB — at our Mexico or CMC Michael campus, so nothing has to be sent internationally.
- Class starts on Zoom — as soon as your times are agreed.
